Strategy and Analytics Alignment

Business Analytics Flow Chart

No project lives in a vacuum. Business analytics projects in particular need to be closely aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization. Otherwise, you might find you are measuring and improving the wrong things. When we’re out on client sites, we frequently find:

  • Key metrics are inconsistent across facilities
  • Standard process are not being followedCTA-Analytics
  • Calculations require manual adjustment or guesswork
  • Some critical information isn’t being tracked at all
  • The information that’s being tracked isn’t that helpful in making decisions

Often these misalignments occur because the organization is operating in silos, and making decisions that work primarily for their own department or sub-company.  For this reason, we like to step back from the day-to-day minutiae of running the business and make sure everyone understands the big picture goals. Our Business Analytics team and Business Transformation teams work in tandem to establish definition around which metrics should be analyzed and how that information will be used to drive business insight. We get everyone – from executive-level to project delivery personnel – on the same page.  By the end of this phase, we will have:

  • Consensus on the company’s overarching vision, short-term and long-term goals
  • Clarity how this project helps the company achieve those goals
  • A direct mapping of company goals and vision to Data Warehouse Indicators This allows our clients to measure how strategic goals are performing daily
  • Prioritized the quick wins and big opportunities for improvements
  • Standardized the business processes and metrics across the enterprise
  • Gained an understanding of how to use these business insights to make day-to-day decisions
