WPC 2016

Attending Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference is always an interesting event. Over 15,000 Microsoft Partners and Employees from around the world descend into a city to learn and share.  This year’s event – #WPC16 – is even more special for me personally because this year’s event is being held in my home town – Tornado, Ontario, Canada.

I am the #WPC16 go-to guy.

David, where should we get Thai food? What’s the best steak place? I enjoy showing people the Toronto I know and love. Toronto is a walking city, and it’s a great time of year to catch some sun, a nice breeze and see the city. It’s a great way to unwind when you hit “Microsoft information overload.”

I had the opportunity to show our CEO, Claude Watson, the University of Toronto.

McaConnect President, Dave Durham, and I were able to have a great meal at one of my favorite entertainment district restaurants, Fred’s Not Here.

But back to the show….

Highlights of WPC So Far:

  1. Hearing from Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Satya Nadella, is always entertaining, inspiring and educational.  On Monday, he shared how Microsoft is delivering on the digital transformation with leading edge technologies. One of the stories illustrated how a customer was using Microsoft Dynamics CRM to manage a field service ticket utilizing Flow, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Power BI and PowerApps to accomplish a highly automated business process that normally would have been very manual.  The power of Microsoft’s combined technologies is simply incredible.
  2. Connecting with the Microsoft team. Getting face time with our Microsoft counterparts and leadership team in one place is hugely beneficial. The relationship between Microsoft and its partners – especially partners like us who work on larger deals – is important. In one week, in one place, we get down to business and connect as friends / colleagues.
  3. Chatting with other Microsoft Partners. Even though there are thousands of Microsoft Partners in the world, our WPC eco-system of Microsoft Dynamics Partners can be a pretty tight knit community. Learning how they are working with clients, adding value and creating success is always enlightening and educational. It never ceases to amaze me what humans can create.
  1. Being a 2016 Microsoft ERP Partner of the Year Award Finalist.  Having our company nominated and place as a 2016 Award finalist for the Dynamics Partner of the Year is a special honor. We are heading out to the Partner Awards Celebration at Casa Loma. Look it up on Bing…a great Toronto landmark.

Stay tuned for more!
